WaterGuru SENSE | "Check Cassette" Alert
If you're getting a "Check Cassette" Alert in the WaterGuru app, or if the SENSE failed to measure any water chemistry parameters, it indicates an error may have occurred while attempting to read the chemistry pads in the Cassette due to the following:
- Obstruction in the Purezone's lab unit's optical path
- Fine debris in the skimmer that gets inside the Sensor Unit
- The cassette is not seated properly
- The cassette is empty
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
- Remove the SENSE from the skimmer
- Ensure that the skimmer is clean - without any debris. If there is debris, clean it out of the skimmer before proceeding. If your skimmer periodically fills with debris, you will need to check the skimmer occasionally to ensure that there is no debris in the skimmer or the device will stop measuring.
- If you are using a mesh bag, remove the mesh bag. The mesh bag is no longer required unless your pool skimmer regularly fills up with a lot of fine particulate matter and you do not clean the pool skimmer regularly. If you need a mesh bag, one can be ordered from WaterGuru.
- Remove the cassette from the SENSE lab unit
- Check the bottom of the lab unit for any debris. If there is any debris, remove it.
- Turn the cassette over. The SENSE cassette has a plastic strip with small pads that rotates in the cassette whenever a measurement is performed. If you can see the plastic strip with pads, then the cassette still has remaining measurements. If however, the plastic strip is not visible or if you see the plastic strip with no pads, then the cassette is empty and needs to be replaced. If the cassette still has the plastic strip with pads, continue.
-
Using a clean cotton cloth dampened with water, wipe the optical windows clean. See the images below that shows the 3 optical windows that require cleaning.
- Submerge both the Sensor unit and the cassette in the water, and shake the cassette a bit to let out any excess air or bubbles. If there is any fine debris in the cassette, the shaking will expel the debris as well during this step. With both the lab unit and cassette submerged, insert the cassette in the sensor unit until you hear a click to ensure it is seated properly.
- Replace the SENSE in the skimmer ensuring that the metal strip on the lab unit is pointing toward the pool and not toward the back of the skimmer.
- Perform a "Measure Now" or wait for the next scheduled reading.
If you have completed the above troubleshooting, have waited 24 hours, and the WaterGuru App still shows the "Check Cassette" alert, please submit a Support Request.
