Can I remove the WaterGuru SENSE from the Skimmer for a few hours without damaging the cassette?
Yes. The SENSE can be removed from the skimmer for a short period of time from a few hours to even longer periods of time as long as the proper steps are taken.
Customers with pool vacuums need to occasionally access the skimmer to connect their vacuum. They would need to remove the SENSE from the skimmer to do this.
To avoid damaging the SENSE device and the cassette, here is what you should do:
- Go to any hardware store and purchase a 1-gallon bucket. Just make sure that the diameter of whatever bucket you purchase is 9". The 1-gallon bucket many customers use is about 9.75" high and has a 9" diameter.
- Fill the 1 gallon bucket with pool water about half full
- Remove the SENSE from the skimmer
- Place the SENSE on top of the bucket so the lab unit (where the cassette is) is covered in water
After you are through using your pool vacuum:
- Remove the SENSE from the bucket
- Replace the SENSE in the skimmer making sure that the metal tab on the lab unit is facing towards the pool and not towards the back of the skimmer
- Dump the water in the bucket back into the pool
Note: This is a good time to ensure that you are keeping the skimmer clean and free of pollen, dust and debris so that the SENSE can work properly. See here for more information.
