How do I set up the WaterGuru TREAT and connect to my Wi-Fi network using the WaterGuru app?
Before you get started - Important information to know:
- Never mix pool chemicals
- Chemical spills can damage pool decks and tiles
- Setup TREAT outdoors only on a hard surface that can be easily and quickly hosed down"
IMPORTANT: If you are an existing WaterGuru customer who has already activated a SENSE or a TREAT device and are setting up a TREAT device for a new pool, do the following:
Instructions for Existing WaterGuru Customers setting up a TREAT
- Launch the WaterGuru App on your phone
- At the top middle portion of the screen, tap the drop-down arrow to the right of the name of your pool
- Tap Add Device
- At the Pool Selection screen, "Are you setting up the device in an existing pool or a new pool", select New Pool
- Select TREAT and then follow the instructions to activate the TREAT
Instructions for New WaterGuru Customers setting up a TREAT
Here's how to setup and connect the TREAT to your Wi-Fi network!
Download and install the WaterGuru App and create your Account
- Download the WaterGuru app from the Apple App store or Google Play
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone (Bluetooth must be enabled or you will not be able to complete the initial pairing of the device from the WaterGuru app)
- Create a WaterGuru Account - you'll need to provide your email address and First and Last name
- After your account has been created, we will send you an email with the subject "Your WaterGuru Verification code" - Note: You may need to check your "Other" folder, Junk Mail folder or Spam folder if the email is not in your regular email Inbox.
- On the app, enter the 6-digit verification code
- After your email account has been verified, you will be prompted: "Add Pool? No pools or devices have been added to this account. You may add a new pool, or use profile to sign into a different account that has that pool".
- Tap Add Pool
- You will see the message: Are you setting up the device in an exiting pool or a new pool?
- Select New
- At the Select device to setup screen, tap the TREAT icon at the bottom of the page
- You will see the message: TREAT is a pre-release product. Please enter PIN to continue Setup
- Enter 7399 and tap Done
- You will see the message: "Before you get started - Never mix pool chemicals, Chemical spills can damage pool decks and tiles, Setup TREAT outdoors only on a hard surface that can be easily and quickly hosed down"
- Tap OK
Add Batteries and Cassette
- At the Setup Water Guru screen, you prompted to perform certain tasks to set up your device
- Remove outer housing - Tap See Important instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Press the button on the back of the TREAT to release the top lid. Lift and remove the lid. Unscrew the Drop pH tube from the lid and set the lid aside. Lift the handle to its fully opened position. Move the two housing locks to the inner unfolded position. Pull straight up to remove the outer housing."
- Scroll up and tap "Watch the video"
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- After you have completed the steps to remove the outer housing, tap Save & Continue
- Add batteries and cassette - tap See instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "To add batteries, open the battery compartment tabs and remove the compartment cover. Add 4 D size batteries. See cassette instructions below. To add the cassette, pull the latch down to the open position. Insert the cassette into the slot and close the latch.
- Scroll up and tap "Watch the video"
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App menu
- After you have completed the steps to add the batteries and cassette, tap Save & Continue
Connect TREAT to Wi-Fi
- Scanning for your WaterGuru will be displayed as the App scans for the TREAT using Bluetooth
- If the message "WaterGuru device not found" appears, ensure that the batteries are installed and that you have enabled Bluetooth on your phone and that you are within 6 feet of the TREAT device. Note: You may need to disable / enable Bluetooth on your phone in order for Bluetooth pairing to initiate.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone and/or move within 3-6 feet of the TREAT
- Tap Try Again
- You may need to re-enable Bluetooth and restart your phone if you see the error "Bluetooth Error - Bluetooth must be on and privacy settings must allow WaterGuru to use Bluetooth. In Settings > Bluetooth, check that Bluetooth is enabled. Please also verify in Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth that the value for WaterGuru is also enabled".
- Scanning for your WaterGuru will appear
- Once the App has found your device, the following message will appear "We found your WaterGuru", please select below.
- Tap the name of the WaterGuru device
- Connecting to your WaterGuru will appear
- The following message will appear: "Success! Now let's continue with your device setup."
- Tap Continue
- Setting up your WaterGuru will appear briefly
- Name your Pool - At the Activate WaterGuru screen, you are prompted to name your pool
- Enter a descriptive name for your pool
- Pool size - (gallons) - Tap pool size and a slider will appear
- Move the slider to the size of your pool in gallons
- Tap Save & Continue
- Set up Wi-Fi (requires Bluetooth) - will be displayed
- Note: If the message "Bluetooth Disconnected - The WaterGuru device was disconnected. When in range of your device, please try again". Tap OK and ensure you are within 3-6 feet of your device
- Tap Save & Continue
- At the Wi-Fi connection screen, under "Choose a Network", a list of the SSIDs of compatible 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi networks will appear.
- Note: If your home Wi-Fi network SSID does not appear, this could be an indication that your Wi-Fi network is either located too far away from the TREAT, in which case you will need to purchase a Wi-Fi range extender, you have disabled 2.4Ghz broadcast on your router, in which case you will need to enable 2.4Ghz on your router.
- Refresh the screen by pulling down from the top
- If you continue to not see your network and you have enabled 2.4Ghz broadcast on your router, you will need to purchase a Wi-Fi range extender.
- When you see your network SSID, tap on the network name
- At the Enter Password screen, carefully enter the password for your network and tap the check box next to "Remember Network and Password"
- Tap Join
- If you have entered an incorrect password, the following message will appear: "Connection failed. Connection to Wi-Fi failed, please try again" Please re-check the password and enter it again.
- If your TREAT device is located too far away from the network and the signal is too weak, the same error message will appear: "Connection failed. Connection to Wi-Fi failed, please try again". Try repeating the process again. If you continue to receive this error message, you will need to purchase a Wi-Fi range extender.
- If you have verified that you are entering the correct password and that you have good Wi-Fi signal where your WaterGuru SENSE is located but you still get the error "Connection failed. Connection to Wi-Fi failed, please try again", reboot your phone and launch the WaterGuru App to start the process over again. Rebooting the phone will reboot your phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.
- Once you have paired your TREAT device to your Wi-Fi network, the Activate WaterGuru screen will appear
- You are prompted to Name Your Pool - Enter a descriptive name for your pool
- After you have completed the steps tap Save & Continue
- "Success! Now let's fill your TREAT" will be displayed
Fill Granular Chlorine
- Fill Granular Chlorine - Review safety tips - tap See Safety tips
- The following safety tips will be displayed: "Never mix pool chemicals. Chemical spills can damage pool decks and tiles. Set up TREAT outdoors only, on a hard surface that can be easily and quickly hosed down."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- After you have read the safety tips, tap Save & Continue
- Remove device lid (If the lid has not already been removed) - tap See instructions
- "Press the button on the back of TREAT to release the top lid. Lift and remove the lid. Unscrew the Drop pH tube from the lid and set the lid aside. Lift the handle to its fully opened position. Move the two housing locks to the inner unlocked position. Pull straight up to remove the outer housing"
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Save & Continue.
- Unlock and open GC tank latch - tap See Instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Tap the "Unlock" button to release the GC tank latch (disk latch will rotate to the unlocked position). Raise the cover to its fully opened position."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Unlock
- Latch is unlocked, open it now - tap See Instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Unlock GC Tank latch - Tap the "Unlock" button to release the GC tank latch (disk latch will rotate to the unlocked position). Raise the cover to its fully opened position."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Save & Continue
- Prepare bag(s) - tap See Important Safety Tips
- The following Safety Tips will be displayed: "Prepare bags. Open bags one by one. Use protective eyewear. Wear protective gloves. Place device on a mat or on a hard surface that can be easily and quickly hosed down. Sweep any particles into the tank or close the latch and hose down the inner section.
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Save & Continue
- Fill Tank - How many bags are you adding? - Tap See Instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Fill GC tank - Use the tab to lift open the tank cap. Fill the tank with Granular Chlorine from prepared bag. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the area around the tank is clean and free of Granular Chlorine and any other debris before closing the latch. When done, close the latch and remove any remaining debris."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap the slider and move it to the amount of bag(s) you will be adding.
- Tap Save & Continue
- Close the Latch - YES / NO? - tap See Instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Close latch - Ensure that the access panel is completely closed before tapping the Lock button on the following screen
- Tap "Watch the video"
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap "Yes" to confirm that the latch is closed
- "Latch will lock automatically when you tap the Lock + Continue button
- Tap Save & Continue
- Nicely Done! - Now let's fill up the Drop pH tank - will be displayed
- Tap Save & Continue
Fill Drop pH
- Review Safety Tips - Tap See safety tips
- The following safety tips will be displayed: "Safety tip - Never mix pool chemicals. Chemical spills can damage pool decks and tiles. Set up TREAT outdoors only, on a hard surface that can be easily and quickly hosed down."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Save & Continue
- Prepare Bottles - Tap See Instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Prepare bottles - Open bottles one by one. Use protective eyewear. Wear protective gloves. Place device on a mat or on a hard surface that can be easily and quickly hosed down."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Save & Continue
- Attach Drop pH tube to bottle - Tap See instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Attach Drop pH Tube - If you haven't already done so, remove the lid and detach the Drop pH tube from the cap. Screw the Drop pH tube onto the Drop pH bottle."
- Tap Watch the Video
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- After you have attached the Drop pH tube onto the Drop pH bottle, tap Save & Continue
- Fill Tank - Tap See instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Fill pH tank - Invert Drop pH bottle over TREAT to pour in Drop pH."
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Move the slider next to "How many bottles are you adding" to the number of bottles you are adding.
- After you have moved the slider to the number of bottles you are adding, tap Save & Continue
- Re-attach Drop pH tube to device lid - Tap See instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Re-attach Drop pH tube to device lid - Ensure the Drop pH tube is empty before unscrewing the bottle. Unscrew the Drop pH tube from the bottle. Screw the Drop pH tube back onto the TREAT lid."
- Tap Watch the video
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- After you have re-attached the Drop pH tube to the device lid, tap Save & Continue
- Replace device lid - Tap See instructions
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Replace device lid - Ensure the Drop pH tube is safely stowed inside the unit. then re-attach the lid."
- Tap Watch the video
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- After you have replaced the device lid, tap Save & Continue
- Nicely done! Let's connect to Wi-Fi
- Tap Save & Continue
Replace Outer Housing
- The following instructions will be displayed: "Install the outer housing. Carefully watch the orientation so the housing latches are both aligned".
- Tap "Watch the video"
- Tap the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to return to the App
- Tap Continue
Place on Skimmer and install the Lid
- Follow the instructions in the app to "Remove existing skimmer cover"
- Using the handle, lift and place the TREAT centered over the skimmer opening
- Push the C-shaped handle down to its closed position
- Install the lid, inserting the lower end first and then the higher end
- Tap Save and Continue
- Setup is complete

Important:
- TREAT will work the best if you have at least 2 bars of Wi-Fi strength.
- If the TREAT cannot detect Wi-Fi then you will need to setup a Wi-Fi range extender.
- Wi-Fi extender should be located higher to create a line of sight.
